La Perla del Mar, which translates into "The Pearl of The Sea," is named after the pre-Columbian era pearl harvesting that took place along this stretch of coast and clings to the rich culture and history that make this region of Baja so unique. Legend has it that the Mayans and Aztecs once fetched magnificent black pearls from the Sea of Cortes for their rulers and gods, and during the early Spanish explorations of the Americas, pearls were one of the biggest exports. European royalty and upper classes even referred to what is now Baja as "the land where pearls come hither." La Perla del Mar was created in 2003 by the Wehe family of San Diego, California, who have been enjoying the many wonders of San Felipe as a second home for over 20 years. Back in 2003 the Wehes saw the need in South Beach for a community that had all the comforts and amenities of the US right here in Baja, and so the vision for La Perla del Mar was born. After many years of hard work and with recent legislation changes, they have created a development that empowers non-nationals of Mexico with the ability to safely and securely own land in Mexico. They have also created a close-knit community atmosphere because they consider each property owner to be a member of the La Perla del Mar family. The Wehes have been involved in every detail of the development process. That hands-on involvement enables La Perla del Mar to uphold the highest standards of excellence and adhere to the principles that are of paramount importance to every homebuyer: integrity, pride of ownership, personal respect, and trust. The private, gated community of La Perla del Mar is made up of 10 beachfront home sites and 29 sea view home sites. With onsite 24 hour security you can rest assured that your safety is of great importance at La Perla del Mar. Each home site comes plumbed with underground electricity and potable water. In addition, there will be an onsite sewer treatment plant that serves the entire community. |
