La Perla del Mar is a beautiful, beachfront community located on a magnificent, private cove at KM 6 in South Beach San Felipe.  La Perla del Mar, which translates into ”The Pearl of The Sea,” is named after the pre-Columbian era pearl harvesting that took place along this stretch of coast and clings to the rich culture and history that make this region of Baja so unique.  Legend has it that the Mayans and Aztecs once fetched magnificent black pearls from the Sea of Cortes for their rulers and gods, and during the early Spanish explorations of the Americas, pearls were one of the biggest exports. European royalty and upper classes even referred to what is now Baja as ”the land where pearls come hither.”
